A Day Divided

5-5-11... May 5th...  Cinco de Mayo, living in an agriculture based county in Florida, Cinco De Mayo is a well known holiday.  The music will be loud and the flags flown....   However, today is also a little lessly known as the National Day of Prayer. On this 60th National Day of Prayer it is too easy to think of topics to pray for. I'm not going to attempt to make a list of the prayer needs in our nation because I would be typing all week, but I do want to challenge you to take a couple of minutes to pray for a few of our nation's needs.  From our President, our Government, our Military, our Law Enforcement, our County officials, our City officials (and potential city officials), to our teachers, our Churches, and our Preachers. In a time of worldly devastation, let us pray for each other.  The tragedy in Japan, the conflicts in the middle east, and the devastating weather systems that continue to reek havoc on the US. With so much going on around the world don't let your life be too busy to pray for others. A lot of times we see Christian organizations doing relief efforts and think, "oh yea, that's right, Christians gettin' it done!" However, I'm sure you have heard of the Red Cross, one of their larger contributors is the American Atheists Organization.  For every good thing a Christian organization does, I guarantee you there is a non-believer based organization doing the same.  In a time where our society flooded the streets in praise over a non-believers death, I feel like we should declare National Year of Prayer...  Ezekiel 33:11 says, "As surely as I live says the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of wicked people. I only want them to turn from their wicked ways so they can live. Turn! Turn from your wickedness, O people of Israel! Why should you die?". As believers we need to step up to the plate and begin to storm our Nation before it's too late..

Sorry I went all preacher..

Make today a day of prayer!
